I chose to take time off over the Memorial Day week-end, and though I had things that needed to be done it was time to take a rest! My husband was celebrating his birthday week, and as a gift I rewarded both of us with a mini in-house vacation!
We decided each day to do fun things we had been putting off doing together, and went out and accomplished them! We visited historic places around our city, spent time at the zoo, walked, ate out at restaurants we had not visited before, and caught up on some reading. We let the normal routines be interrupted and at the end of the 3 days we were renewed, refreshed, and ready to be back in the routine of our life together!
Some of the tips she shared to be most productive are to:
get 6.5-7.5 hours of sleep- she also shares tips on how to sleep to get the most rest
start our work early as our brains are most productive the first 2.5-4 hours after waking up
plan to take at least one day a week to completely rest
eat healthy- fruits and vegetables are best for being more productive and help us to get the rest we need
exercise regularly- planned it will help us be more productive and rested
take a vacation- without working
disconnect from technology at times you are not working
learn to quit multi-tasking
learn to say no
I am sure we have all heard these before; but the key is are you relating them to productivity by staying on purpose and enjoying life?
I want to live an abundant life that I know we can, how about you? As a recovering workaholic, perfectionist, and “queen of multi-tasking” I know when I choose to do some of these tips, I am at my best and in “my zone!”
I plan on making some needed permanent changes in my personal and professional life to rest and enjoy life; and still be productive and have a successful company and meet our business goals! Want to join me? It is possible!
I had a great time while away, and an even better time knowing I planned in advance how to make the transition back into my “real” world easier than it has ever been!
Before I always made sure my home and office were clean, and our work projects were on track, but this was the first time I was able to not envision the worst happening while I was gone, and also be prepared for things I might have to handle once we hit the door last night; by having my “re-entry” plan in place!
I also credit another one of our professionals, Barbara Hemphill, http://www.barbarahemphill.com/ for her many tips on helping me have a better office organization and work flow, as well as the handling of my “personal” stuff during and after the trip!
With help from these two today I am being a positive, productive business owner, instead of “running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off!” We were prepared to meet with an unexpected guest today, and ready to host an event tonight at our FTC- (Falcone Training Center) as well!
Isn’t it time you decide to make some changes, even if you don’t have a vacation coming up soon? Living a positive, productive life is possible, and makes all those special times even more memorable and rewarding! I’m refreshed, renewed, and ready to work hard knowing I have better times ahead!
Enjoy your life, count it all joy, and live your dreams!
July is the chosen month by many to travel! Many of us here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! are joining the crowds! However, I keep working to make it a memorable experience not another added job that I don’t have time to enjoy, how about you?
I was greatly encouraged this week by Dr. Joey Faucette in his recently published article http://bit.ly/1qy6oen “How to Cure Vacation Anxiety!”
I realized all my preparation for a time away was usually focused on what I needed to do before we left and while we were gone, never on defining what constituted an emergency while we were gone, or how I would handle our business and life once we returned!
No wonder I felt like when we returned I needed another vacation to get over the one we just experienced! Also can only imagine what a “high maintenance” process it was for my husband to handle as well!
I now have one week before our 2500 mile adventure! I am beginning my planning in a much different way! Won’t you join me and cure your vacation anxiety too?
Love to meet you along the way. Just click on contact here and send me a message, so we can add you to our schedule to have coffee or tea and share life together!
Thanks Dr. Joey for your valuable insight, and I can already see the change happening! Are you ready to travel?
