Weekly #WOWfactor-Is It Time to Re-Invent?

reinventHappy Thankful Thursday from Ft. Worth, Texas! We are here for an annual business conference and as we toured Ft.
Worth last night I saw how this city has re-invented their downtown area to make it a safe attraction for families both in the day time and evenings. It is amazing the transformation since last year! Buildings and areas have been built, and we could see the results in the families that were flooding the streets.

This encouraged me to think of our workplace and what skills and solutions we are going to need for employment and operating successful businesses going forward.

Doesn’t re-invent sound better than change?  But where do we start? In reading many experts on this topic there are 3 major areas to address in making the leap to re-invent yourself and/or your company. These are the basics necessary to succeed and help others do the same!

These are:
Your Mindset- doesn’t everything begin first in the mind?
Plan- your personal and business model-including both time, skills, and finances needed to re-invent
Learn how to make collaboration with others work-this is a key area that is new and different for many

When is a good time to begin your re-invention?  Most of us know when life is not going well, or our businesses are not the exciting passionate places they once were!  The time is now, don’t delay!

I am honored to say I am on my 4th re-invention in my lifetime and loving every minute of it! It is possible to change and re-invent a healthy life full of dreams and working with and for the people that really value and appreciate you. There are jobs and opportunities waiting for you, time to reach out and find them!

Weekly #WOWfactor- Are You Ready to Travel?

mycarJuly is the chosen month by many to travel! Many of us here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! are joining the crowds! However, I keep working to make it a memorable experience not another added job that I don’t have time to enjoy, how about you?

I was greatly encouraged this week by Dr. Joey Faucette  in his recently published article  http://bit.ly/1qy6oen  “How to Cure Vacation Anxiety!”

I realized all my preparation for a time away was usually focused on what I needed to do before we left and while we were gone, never on defining what constituted an emergency while we were gone, or how I would handle our business and life once we returned!

No wonder I felt like when we returned I needed another vacation to get over the one we just experienced! Also can only imagine what a “high maintenance” process it was for my husband to handle as well!

I now have one week before our 2500 mile adventure! I am beginning my planning in a much different way! Won’t you join me and cure your vacation anxiety too?

Love to meet you along the way. Just click on contact here and send me a message, so we can add you to our schedule to have coffee or tea and share life together!

Thanks Dr. Joey for your valuable insight, and I can already see the change happening! Are you ready to travel?

Enjoy the trip,

“Simply” Sue

Weekly #WOWfactor- “On the Road Again!”

mycarIt’s that time of the year, and we are getting ready to be “On the Road Again!”  We are honored to be invited guests and take part at an annual business conference. We could fly but as we love meeting new people, seeing business clients, catching up with friends and family, and exploring new places, driving is the only way for us!

This year we are starting out a little earlier, leaving on July 3, and will be spending July 4th week-end in Memphis! Can’t wait to see how Memphis celebrates this great holiday!  We will also be meeting our daughter, Wendy and Brian there, so will be an awesome time of catching up!

From there we will journey onto Oklahoma City and go back to my roots of living and working in Oklahoma. While there we will connect with business clients, see friends from grade school, see the plans of our next high school reunion (a big one!) and I have been asked to speak to a group about what I do and why I love it!

Next is the big event of attending a 5 day conference in the wonderful city of Ft. Worth, Texas! I love seeing what they have added to the downtown, meeting with special friends and business clients, enjoying the overwhelming events of the conference, and exploring places we have not visited before. Being from the West “I was country before country was cool” and now as an avatar of “Simply” Sue Speaks! it brings it all together for me!

Once all is done in Ft. Worth, we will wander back home with stops in Memphis, Sparta, Tenn, and Gatlinburg before coming back to reality on July 16th. With all the modern technology I will not miss a beat in our business, connecting with my assistant, our clients, and the professionals I represent! We call this a blended life and love seeing how we can make it all come together and enjoy the moments we are in at the time!  We also love how we have family and friends who will be handling the events at our home while we are gone! They make sure our home is secure 24/7, our plants are watered, our Lifetree Cafe is open on each Thursday we are away, and everything is ready to welcome us back into the life we are blessed to have!

How can you our fans and new friends join us on this adventure?  We would love to meet you for coffee or lunch at your favorite place in your area. I am also available to speak at your groups or do interviews, radio and TV spots! We will be traveling around 2500 miles round trip so I am sure we can connect in some way!  We will be in Memphis, Oklahoma City, Ft. Worth, Sparta, Gatlinburg, and all cities in between! We want to hear about what you do, and how you do it!  We have met with many in our past years of this journey, but this year we want to set a record! Contact us here at our website so we can set up a time and place, and we will be there!

Wishing each of you a great week, and hope to meet you soon!

How to Use Your Creative Spirit to Bring the #WOWfactor to Your Upcoming Event

When you’re planning an event it’s important to look for out-of-the-box ways to spice things up so that your attendees/guests are excited about attending your event. Think about the events that you’ve attended… what made them memorable?

One event that comes to mind for me is The Color Run. Marketing themselves as “The Happiest 5K on the Planet”, this never-attempted event has turned into a phenomenon. People love the idea of “being the first” and saying “I was there when it started.”  If you decide to participate in one of their events you know you’re going to have an unforgettable experience! I’d say they bring the #WOWfactor to their events… wouldn’t you?

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.”
~Vincent Van Gogh

Here’s some ideas you can use to bring the #WOWfactor your events:

  • Have a vision. Any time you’re planning an event, you have the opportunity to create something meaningful for those who will be participating. Put some thought into it and have a vision for your event. Decide to be daringly creative… think “out of the box”.
  • Generate a buzz about your event. When you communicate with your potential attendees/guests, get them excited about attending your event. Be creative with your invitations, announcements, promotional materials, email lists, etc.
When you engage in new and exciting ways they’ll want to share their excitement with others.
  • Make it unforgettable. Make them feel like a VIP! The experience you provide your attendees/guests is everything! Get creative with a welcome video. Share your story… let them share their stories. Create a closing video. Take photos.
Give them something to remember. When you do, you’ll be known for bringing the #WOWfactor to your events.

Weekly #WOWfactor! Are You a “T-shaped” Person?

tshapedBeing a “T-shaped” person is fast becoming the hot “topic” for the future of our workplace and life as an entrepreneur and small business owner. But have you heard much about it?

When you hear “T-shaped” what picture comes to mind first? Does deep and wide pop right away? The recruiting industry has started looking extensively into the skill sets that will be needed in the future workplace. They are finding more and more they need people who can do bigger things and think more broadly. The work of the future needs people who have the depth of expertise and skills represented by the vertical part of the “T”, while the crossbar of the ” T” represents the amount they are willing and able to collaborate and share!

Quite a different look, than our normal way of thinking about our work as an individual isn’t it? “T-shaped” people are well-rounded and versatile. They are able to contribute and take on a variety of roles without being “assigned” them as in the workplace now! This will open new mindsets, and focus on how people will be compensated, promoted, and given development to be able to transform organizations!

The skill sets needed to be a  “T-shaped” person are: adaptable/versatile, communicate effectively, multi-cultural awareness, entrepreneurial, intrapreneurial, team player, problem solver, self-motivated, disciplined, critical thinker, collaborative, and have a mindset of being your own CEO.  Sound like an impossible task to make these changes?  Looks that will give my company and many more a new target market to help you step into the workforce of tomorrow!

Are you excited about the future? I am! I love to work, and I want to make a difference. I know I will have to be a “T-shaped” person, but looking back, I think I always have been one, how about you?

We welcome your comments on the Weekly “WOW” factor topic!  Have a great week!
