Just Ask! by guest: Kelly Swanson

askI don’t know about you, but I come from a long line of women who hate to ask for help. We’d rather stand proudly in the pool of martyrdom, even if we are drowning – but at least we did it on our own, with good hair, fine china, and a purse that matched our shoes. Asking translated to weakness. Asking meant you weren’t polite. Asking was rude. What we didn’t realize, was that sometimes (and maybe most times) in order to get what we want, we have to ASK for it. Yet many of us, me included, are disappointed at all the things we didn’t get that we never asked for.

Today was a good example for me. I want likes on my Facebook page – not to feel needed, but because it gives me more exposure to clients looking for motivational speakers. And yet every time I open my Facebook page and see that place where it gives me the option to ask my friends to like me – I ignore it. It just feels too needy. What if they say no? What if that makes me promiscuous?

But today I said, “What the heck. I’m always happy to like their pages. And they can always say no. I’ll never know unless I ask.”  So I asked.  And not even an hour later I got 80 likes – make that 81, I just got another while typing this. And I would bet by end of the day that number will be higher.

Lesson to me: ASK.

Lesson to you: ASK.

They can always say no. But your chances are always better than if you said nothing at all.

So now that I’ve climbed out of the pool of martyrdom and into the pool of asking for what I want – does anybody have any diamonds they want to give me?

(P.S.  In case you now want to go find me on Facebook, go to www.facebook.com/funnymotivationalspeaker.  I’ll be the one with all the likes.)

Are You Stuck? 6 Keys to Moving Forward!

stuckHow many times have you found yourself in situations where you are “stuck” in the moment?  It could be right now! How does it feel? You have hit a snag in your professional or personal life and you are paralyzed and unable to move on!  All you can dwell on is the issue and you can’t “let it go!” It becomes all you think about and you begin to beat yourself up, because it must be your fault somehow! It can make you angry, frustrated, and becomes the controlling factor of your life! You just cannot shake it!

I remember one of my favorite words of wisdom that the late Dr. Wayne Dyer shared was this:stuckwaynedyer

When we hit these rough and challenging times if we let it go far and long enough, they can stop us from reaching our full potential, and eventually cause us to give up and quit and live in the memories of regret!

I don’t want your business or life to ever get to the place where you want to quit or give up, because I have discovered 6 KEYS that will open your mind and heart, show you a direction to get back on track,  and keep you moving forward.

  • Admit to yourself you are “stuck!”  Write down what the issue is!
  • Walk away from the situation for a short while and focus on something else
  • Pray and meditate on the blessings that you are thankful and grateful for-write them down
  • Get some planned exercise- you would be amazed at what an hour of walking or Zumba will do
  • Now you are ready to share with a positive person in your life the real issue and let them help you reach a solution
  • Be thankful you went through this time- now you can prevent it in your future and be able to help someone else through it

We all can get “stuck” at any given time. It can surprise us and challenge us! Now we do not have to give in and let it destroy our joy, peace, and happiness! You are valuable and worth so much more than spending your time being “stuck!”

Handling the “Unexpected!”

unexpected1Ever had an “unexpected” moment change your life?  Most of us are more comfortable living in a pattern of habit and steady pace, and when the “unexpected” happens we are at a loss of what to do. We didn’t think to plan for it!

This week we received an “unexpected” weather event, and because of it we were not prepared for the road conditions to be hazardous and took chances that resulted in a large number of accidents. This caused major damage, fortunately not many injuries,  and we felt for those that were involved.

However, my Grandmother always said: “something good can come out of anything,” and in this situation it did! A local car repair business that had been scheduled to close, now has increased new business and will be able to remain open; because they were “unexpectedly” available!

I chose not to live in the “what ifs” but am more calm, peaceful, and confident when acknowledging and planning for the “unexpected” that could happen!  We can not prevent the “unexpected” from entering our lives, but we can do something to make them easier to handle once they do!

Here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! Global Booking Agency, we have amazing talent that share all over the world, how to handle the “unexpected” in a number of different topics and situations that you face everyday.  They show you how to make choices and give you expert solutions to handling the “unexpected” before and when they occur, whether in your business or professional and personal life situations.

Tonight we are facing another “weather event.” The forecasters have done their best to let us see what could and might happen; just wonder how many are prepared to face the “unexpected” and how will it affect their lives?

Time to “Let It Go?”

letitgoThis Christmas we are hearing “Let It Go” everywhere we turn!  The movie, “Frozen” captured our hearts when Queen Elsa through a complex past and story could finally “Let It Go” and become the person she wanted to be.

As we approach a New Year, are there things in our businesses and lives that we need to “let go” so we can move forward toward the success that we long to achieve?

Geoffrey James, Contributing Editor to Inc.com and award winning business blogger shares in his post-http://goo.gl/i0hbD0
“Success results not from adding things to your life but from letting go of them.”

Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Sing the award winning song, and we can do it! However, Mr. James learned it isn’t as easy as we would like it! Very often it is painful to look at the things that may have originally been working for us, and realize we must “let them go!”

He recently took some advice and has a sign posted in large letters near his computer which reads “I LOVE LETTING GO!”  This serves as a great daily reminder that to “let go” we have to love the process of doing so, even though it may be hard, and take longer than we would like!

Thinking now, what are some things you know you need to “Let Go” but have put off facing the decisions to do so? Isn’t it time?

One of our award winning speakers here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! Global Booking Agency, Barbara Hemphill, known as the “Paper Tiger Lady” has a newly released book called “Less Clutter More Life”http://goo.gl/ANKiwP  which addresses and gives you the inspiration to “Let Go!” To book Barbara to speak at your upcoming event, click here: http://goo.gl/1w3dDO

From all of here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! Global Booking Agency we wish you a Wonderful Merry Christmas and an Awesome New Year learning how to “Let It Go” and move forward to the greatness of You!
