New Year’s Resolutions or Solutions?

successGot your list ready? Aren’t we supposed to be making New Year’s Resolutions to improve ourselves, our families, and our businesses at this time of year?  Or has this age old tradition finally become extinct since we know they don’t work and we’re not sure they ever did?

I agree taking an honest look at ourselves and how we look and live is not the most fun thing to do!  No one wants to think about setting goals and making plans for change!  That’s hard work, and it might include having to give up something we are not prepared to lose!

Is there still a need to plan for change with all of our modern technology and higher education opportunities?  Think a minute, didn’t someone have to take a look at themselves and their lifestyles and made their New Year’s Resolutions and kept them in order for the changes we are seeing to happen!

Today, I believe you know what changes in 2015 are needed and possible for you; but where do you begin? Life is a process of the experiences of success and failure and once you realize that;  you are on your way to seeing your dreams and goals fulfilled! Do you know the choices you make today have the power to impact and leave a legacy of hope for many others?  It’s time to “let it go” and create a new mindset!

Do you know you can become S.M.A.R.T. at this?  It’s not that hard!  I didn’t create this process, (and no one knows for sure who did), but this is the solution to making your New Year’s Resolutions a reality and permanent!  To begin:

  • list your changes and follow these steps in order:

SSpecific-don’ t just list you want to: increase business, get a promotion, lose weight, or get out of debt- be specific- how, when, why, how, where, who is involved! The more specific you are the closer to success you will become!

MMeasurable– your change has to be measurable so you will know when you succeed or fail, and how to handle both!

AAttainable– Your change needs to be attainable for you to reach! Set your goals larger than you can do by yourself, but not so large no one can do them!

RRealistic– make sure you keep in mind where you are in life! Is it realistic to think you can change overnight? Remember this is personal for you,  not a “one plan fits all”  Make it your “real” not some one else’s!

TTimely – for every change you must set a timeframe for accomplishing it! Otherwise you will have set yourself up for the “roundtoit”  mindset! It will never happen! These need to be short enough to create urgency and well defined enough to be successful!

Don’t you  feel “smarter” already? Can’t wait to begin? Word of caution: take a few minutes to get your list as “smart” as you can make it, share it with others because you are not in this alone, and learn to laugh at yourself and the situations that appear everyday! As a woman of faith, I add prayer to my “smart” planning since I know my struggles and how easily I can get off track. Prayer keeps me grounded, transparent, and humble.

Our speakers here at “Simply” Sue Speaks! Global Booking Agency, are experts at making this process work in their lives and businesses. Have You Delayed Having a Happy New “YOU” Year?

happy lifeStill wanting to make 2014 a Happy New “YOU” Year? Do major events keep occurring that you have allowed to put you in a delay mode?

Having just experienced a major weather event, it made me stop and think: what is really important in life?  It is so easy to get out of balance, but I am beginning to see that for most of us balance is an impossible dream. What we really need is to experience a blending of all that is important, and not quit and give up because it is not perfectly balanced at all times!

I recently read this by the former CEO of Coca Cola, Brian Dyson, speaking about priorities and balance:
“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spiritual – and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.

But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spiritual – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same.”

Which is more important to you?  To keep juggling and not get your priorities straight, or seeing if there is a way to blend these areas with the right priorities and not drop any of them?

John Maxwell shares: “Keep your priorities straight. Taking care of your family, your health, your relationships and your spiritual life is not a selfish act. It’s a sustaining one.”

So today as we begin the third month of the year, and Spring Forward tonight into a new season; do you need to reset and blend your priorities to keep your commitment of having a Happy New “YOU” Year, and not delay, quit or give up?

Have a great week finding out!

Are You Having a “Happy New “YOU” Year Yet?

new youHappy March 1st! We have completed the first two months of the awesome New Year, and how are “You” doing?  Have you made the changes you planned? Are you on track to be the best you can be? Or did the “winter fog” set in your mind, and you haven’t been able to shake it yet?

No matter the place you are in, there is still time to get on board and get to doing what it will take so that this time next year, you will be able to look back and say: “I am so glad I decided to ……………….. and now I am living better, and helping others do the same!”

Here are 3 Solutions to get You back on track:
1.      Make a plan every night for the next day- don’t just let life happen- live intentional
2.      Take 15 minutes every day and clear out the clutter- either in your mind, your work place, or your home
3.      Ask for help from others in the one area you are struggling-even if you have to pay for it, and listen and do what they tell you!

Look forward to hearing how you are living a New “YOU” Year!

How is Your New “YOU” Year Going?

new youHow is Your New “You” Year going? The end of the 1st quarter is fast approaching, and where are you in taking the challenge?  Have you gotten so busy doing life as usual that you just haven’t gotten around to it?

An awesome business owner and friend to many, Tracy Myers shared this and asked us to put it somewhere to view daily:

“I know that every day is not a perfect day. In fact, some days can’t even be classified as “good.” Those are usually the days where you just want to throw in the towel and give up. But you can’t quit…especially on yourself.  You’ve gotta dig deep, kick it into another gear and barrel through any obstacles that may be in your way.  Yes, life can take its toll and drag you down but only if you let it. YOU are in control of your proverbial cup of life being half empty or half full so stop placing blame on everything/everyone else. It’s time to pony up and take responsibility. You can do this. It’s what you were born to do.” Tracy E. Myers, CMD

Is your wheel of life, (which includes these areas-Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Family, Social, Career, Financial), running smoothly, or are you a little shaky and feeling overwhelmed and out of control?

Today to get back on the right track think about these three positive things as you begin your new week:

  • Do you know who you are and where you are going= purpose
  • Do you have priorities and goals in place to get you where you want to go = plan
  • Do you have a daily schedule in place that matches your purpose and  plan= practice

Life is exciting and ready to be lived. Are you prepared to complete your part?

Want to set yourself up for resolution success? Three simple rules to follow:

1. Find your motivation.
“When a goal is intrinsic—something you want for personally meaningful reasons—you are more energized to pursue it,” says psychologist Pauline Wallin, Ph.D., author of Taming Your Inner Brat. So if you want to become more punctual, do it because you want to be more respectful of other people, not because you want their approval.

2. Remove the obstacles.

Convenience is key to making a new routine last. Want to get in the habit of exercising first thing in the morning, for instance? Lay out your workout clothes and shoes before turning in
for the night.

3. Watch your words.
“The language you use in building habits is very important, because it reflects your intention and mind-set,” Wallin says. So tell yourself “I will cross off the toughest things on my to-do list” rather than “I should” or “I’ll try.”

Thanks Stacey for sharing some great ways for us to have a Happy New “YOU” Year! I’m in, how about you?

It is Possible!

decision“There are only three decisions you can make about any information:  1) File 2) Act 3) Toss” Barbara Hemphill, The Paper Tiger Lady.

As you seek to have a Happy New “YOU” Year, do you have a system for handling your life and your business? It begins with a decision process that you put into action.

Today rest and focus on what it is YOU need to do to have all that you could ever dream or imagine!  Then GO and make it happen! It is Posssible!

How is Your New “YOU” Year Going?

HappyNewYOUYearWe started our journey to have a Happy New “YOU” Year and how are you doing? Today may be cold, but the sun is out, and it’s going to be a Super Saturday, or is it?

Dr. Joey Faucette shares: “We miss so much in life, don’t we?”  I don’t want to miss a thing, how about you?

Are you focused and ready to have a great New “YOU” Year, with priorities, goals, and objectives in place? With today planned as one more day to make those happen? Or is it just a day of wandering, and at the end of today you will wonder what happened with this 24 hours ahead of you!  Don’t get caught in the week-end trap, it’s time to live not just dream and wish!

Make this day different as only you can!   Didn’t get a great start on a New “YOU” Year? You can change that right now, and I hope you decide to do so! See you next Saturday as I don’t want to miss a thing, how about you?

Time to Begin a New “YOU” Year?

new year new youI have been wishing you a Happy New “YOU” Year for a couple of weeks now, and everyone is asking me, what do you mean?

I always want to be growing, learning, and living in my personal and professional life, don’t you? To accomplish that we have to step back take a good look at where we are, decide where we want to go, and put into place decisions and choices that will get us there!

That is where I found myself going into 2014: Where am I, where do I want to go, and how am I going to get there! I am hearing many of you are in the same place!

On this second Saturday of the New Year I challenge you to take a look at where you are in your personal and professional life, and celebrate it! Make a list, write it down, or put in on that new Tablet or iPad! See the good!

I am sure you will find you have accomplished much, and are living a blessed life, even if it’s not all you would like it to be!  Give yourself a treat! Read a good book, take a look at the play-offs today without feeling guilty, do some decorating, exercise, call someone you have been meaning to connect with, or go somewhere close that is new to you. Enjoy today whether by yourself, with family, or with friends!

See you next Saturday, right here for the next step in the awesome adventure of having a Happy New “YOU” Year! Remember, as Scott McKain shares: “It’s never too early, or never too late to make changes.”  No New Year’s Resolutions for me, this is a process not a “microwave moment” and it will last.

Have a great week!
